The bitter fight between warring factions of the ruling BJD in the district has worsened with leaders exposing how false affidavits were filed during the 2009 general elections.
Last week BJD MLA Rabindranath Bhoi confessed to his ‘mistake’ of having provided false information relating to his educational qualification in the affidavit filed alongwith his nomination papers in 2009 elections.  Mr Bhoi claimed ignorance and blamed party MLA and district BJD president Bishnu Charan Das for the mistake. Mr Das hit back at Mr Bhoi saying he was not involved.
If this was not enough embarrassment for the faction ridden ruling BJD, yesterday another allegation was made and this time Mr Das was at the receiving end. It is alleged that he too had filed a false affidavit during elections and had not mentioned landed property owned by his wife.
Mr Purusttama Rout had sought the property list of Mr Das and his wife under the RTI. He alleged that according to information provided to him,Mr Das&’s wife had 15 decimal of land. But in his affidavit during the 2009 elections, Mr Das had claimed that his wife had no landed property.
When contacted,  Mr Das said, ‘I am ready to face any probe. The allegation on submission of false information during election has no meaning. My wife does not have 15 decimal land, it is a 1.5 decimal plot,”he said.
Mr Bhoi was quick to rub it in on Mr Das saying, “Those who dig holes for others are bound to fall in it one day”.
The Bhoi-Das row has put Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in trouble.
Mr Bhoi and Mr Das had met the CM  separately  yesterday to explain their positions.
