WhatsApp will shut down if forced to break encryption: Company tells Delhi HC
WhatsApp told the court that it has more than 400 million users in India and they use the app largely for its privacy features.
WhatsApp users in India and across the world are reporting that they are experiencing problems sending texts or unable to log into the app. Several users took to Twitter to confirm the development and vent their frustration with #whatsappdown trending on the micro-blogging site.
According to an Independent website DownDetector, 60 percent of customers were having issues connected to Facebook-owned WhatsApp.
“A further 25 per cent report issues receiving messages and 14 per cent are struggling to login,” Express.co.uk said.

As per Down Detector’s live outage map (via NDTV Gadgets360) , WhatsApp users are affected in these areas: India, South East Asia, and Europe are majorly affected, with fewer reports out of the Americas, Africa, Russia, and Australia.
To recall, WhatsApp was also down in May this year for a few hours in all parts of the world.
