Need for carrying out plantation drive on Yamuna banks

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today stressed on the need for carrying out a massive plantation drive on the banks of Yamuna, reiterating the state government’s commitment for the cleaning of the river.

He said, during an event in Vrindavan, that the plantation of Neem, Peepal, Banyan or medicinal plants on both side of the river would pave way for a clean Yamuna.

The discharge of garbage and drainwater into the river was being stopped by the construction of a treatment plant, the chief minister said, adding that more water would be discharged into Yamuna from Hathini Kund.

Adityanath said by cancelling 15 holidays, the state had added Rs 7,000 crore to state’s GDP which was Rs 18 lakh crore.

He said instead the state government had decided to include chapters on Valmiki, B R Ambedkar among others in whose memory the holidays were being observed as it would enrich people’s knowledge.

He said to develop Vrindaban, Goverdhan, Baldeo, Gokul, Barsana and Nandgaon, the state government had formed a Brij Vikas Parishad.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said meditation was not only spiritually important but was also useful for its physical aspect.

Yoga guru Ramdev stressed on the need for cooperation of people for development of the country, saying that government cannot do everything.

He also stressed on his commitment to replace foreign goods by Indian goods.
