Today, as the first votes are cast in India’s general election, the spotlight naturally turns to the bustling political activities across the country.
Assam Rifles personnel on Wednesday killed a militant in an encounter in Chandel district bordering Myanmar, police said.
According to the police, the encounter took place near Chamol Village at around 5am, the place where the encounter took place is about 18km from Chakpikarong police station.
Additional security forces have been rushed to the remote village, the police said.

Earlier, On Monday, two Assam Rifles jawans were killed and six others injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Man Mani village in the same district.
