Despite the confirmation of an accidental death, the aftermath of Garg’s passing saw a huge surge in legal complaints. Over 50 first information reports (FIRs) were filed against the singer’s manager, Siddhartha Sharma. A lot of them were against the festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta. These events prompted the authorities to investigate further.
In response, Singapore’s Criminal Investigation Department set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT). This is led by Special Director General of Police MP Gupta to look into the complaints.
Following the SIT probe, Sharma and Mahanta were arrested on Wednesday. The arrests have added another layer to the unfolding story. The police have made it clear that Zubeen Garg’s death itself was an unfortunate accident and unrelated to any wrongdoing by them.
The news of Garg’s passing has sparked an outpouring of grief among fans worldwide.
