Guwahati is about to witness a music moment like never before because on Monday, December 8, international superstar Post Malone will perform in the city for the very first time bringing his chart-topping hits and high-energy show to the northeast.
Speaking at a press briefing, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his excitement over the show and its larger implications. “This concert is being fully sponsored by private partners, with minimal government support,” he revealed. “Initially, we thought the government would contribute, but thanks to the overwhelming response from sponsors, we don’t need to fund it. The enthusiasm alone is proof that Guwahati can soon become a hub for concerts.”
CM Sarma also hinted at the scale of the event noting that fans won’t just come from Assam. “People are traveling from Shillong, Nagaland, Itanagar, and even countries like the US and UK,” he said. “If we can host four or five such shows, Guwahati could develop a concert economy similar to Shillong.”
The show comes under promotion and production of BookMyShow Live and Live Nation in collaboration with the Assam government. This event is also the first major outcome of a recent MoU between BookMyShow and the Assam Tourism department which aims to attract more national and international artists to the region and build a strong live entertainment ecosystem.
The Khanapara Veterinary Ground, chosen as the venue, now has over 300 intelligent lighting units, high-quality sound coverage across all audience areas, and full LED and special-effects support to match the standards of Post Malone’s international tours. The stage design includes an extended thrust runway.
The show will also feature large-scale pyrotechnics and flame effects carefully executed to ensure complete safety.
