In an initiative aimed at promoting character-builing among the youth, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in Jalpaiguri has launched a value education programme titled Shashwata Bharata for advancing personality development among its students.

The initiative combines motivational sessions, personality development workshops, meditation, interactive discussions, educational exhibitions, documentary screenings and environmental awareness activities.

A major attraction of the programme is a specially designed mobile exhibition vehicle carrying a large statue of Swami Vivekananda, intended to take the message of value-based education to schools, colleges and educational institutions across Jalpaiguri and neighbouring districts.

“The objective of Shashwata Bharata is to nurture morally upright, confident and socially responsible young citizens. While modern education equips students with skills for a livelihood, value-based education prepares them to lead meaningful lives dedicated to the service of society and the nation,” said Swami Shivapremananda, secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri.

He said the programme also promotes reading through the distribution of value-based books on the lives and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.

According to Swami Shivapremananda, the initiative has received an encouraging response from schools, colleges and youth organisations.

Educational institutions interested in hosting the programme may contact Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri for further details, he added.
