The 15th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 saw Delhi Capitals produce a commanding all-round display as they defeated unbeaten Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets with 26 balls to spare at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi (Vadodara), on Saturday, January 24.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

RCB entered the contest perched at the top of the points table and pushing for a direct entry into the final, while fourth-placed Delhi Capitals were under pressure in a must-win clash to keep their playoff hopes alive. DC responded emphatically, justifying their decision to field by bundling RCB out for a modest 109.

On a surface that offered little assistance to batters, RCB never found any real momentum. The challenging pitch conditions and the discipline of the Capitals’ bowling unit helped them seal the win. The innings unravelled after the dismissal of Smriti Mandhana, with RCB collapsing from 62/1 to 78/5 as wickets fell in quick succession.

Georgia Voll and Richa Ghosh failed to make an impact, boundaries dried up, and partnerships never materialised as Delhi tightened the screws through the middle overs. Any hopes of a late recovery through Nadine de Klerk were swiftly extinguished, with DC wrapping up the innings for 109 before cruising to the target to register a decisive seven-wicket win.

Delhi Capitals produced a composed all-round performance to chase down a modest target and hand unbeaten Royal Challengers Bengaluru their first defeat of the WPL 2026.

Chasing 110, Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee came out with intent for DC. Shafali made her intentions clear from the very first ball, cracking a boundary and adding two more fours in a brisk start that took Delhi to 12/0 after the opening over. However, her entertaining cameo came to an abrupt end in the second over when she was stumped by Sayali Satghare. Shafali’s action-packed knock of 16 off just 8 balls, featuring four boundaries, left DC at 17/1 after 1.4 overs, needing 93 from 110 balls.


Laura Wolvaardt joined Lizelle Lee at the crease, but runs were kept tight initially, with Lauren Bell conceding just two runs in the third over. Lee briefly found the boundary in the fourth over before perishing, caught by Georgia Voll. She departed for 6 off 8 balls, with DC at 24/2.

Jemimah Rodrigues walked in at No. 4 and immediately settled the nerves with a boundary. She stitched together a steady partnership with Wolvaardt, guiding Delhi safely through the middle overs. The duo kept the scoreboard ticking, taking DC to 76/3 before Jemimah was dismissed in the 12th over, caught by Smriti Mandhana off Radha Yadav.


Marizanne Kapp then joined Wolvaardt, and the pair ensured there were no further hiccups. They rotated strike efficiently and found boundaries at regular intervals to close out the chase in style. Delhi Capitals reached 111/4, sealing the match with 26 balls to spare.

Delhi Capitals won by 7 wickets, delivering a statement victory. They outbowled, outbatted, and outfielded RCB on the night. After defeating Mumbai Indians earlier, Delhi followed it up by taking down another heavyweight, proving they are peaking at the right time in the tournament.

RCB Innings End at 109/10

RCB began their innings with intent, knowing a strong start would strengthen their push for a direct spot in the final. Grace Harris and Smriti Mandhana opened the batting, with Mandhana striking fluently early on, crunching a boundary in the first over and adding two more fours in the third. Harris joined in with a pair of boundaries in the fourth over, but the opening stand was broken in the sixth when Marizanne Kapp dismissed Harris for 18, brilliantly caught by Laura Wolvaardt at point. The 36-run partnership came to an end with RCB at 36/1.

Georgia Voll walked in at No. 3, but Delhi continued to tighten the screws. In the 10th over, Minnu Mani struck a crucial blow as Mandhana was dismissed for a watchful 38 off 34, with Niki Prasad showing excellent awareness to complete a sharp low catch. RCB were 62/2 at that stage. Gautami Naik followed soon after, bowled by Sree Charani for 3 as RCB slipped from 62/1 to 67/3.

Marizanne Kapp then delivered another major setback, knocking over Georgia Voll with a delivery that nipped back sharply to crash into the stumps. Voll’s departure for 11 left RCB reeling at 69/4. Minnu Mani added to the collapse by dismissing Richa Ghosh, once again with Wolvaardt involved in a safe catch, as RCB slid to 78/5.

With the Capitals relentless in the field, scoring became increasingly difficult. Sree Charani conceded just three runs in the 15th over, further choking the innings. Chinelle Henry struck in her first over, removing Radha Yadav, before Nandini Sharma trapped Arundhati Reddy lbw. Henry returned in the 19th to dismiss Nadine de Klerk, caught by Jemimah Rodrigues.

Nandini Sharma then wrapped up the innings in the final over, picking up two wickets—including Shreyanka Patil and Sayali Satghare as RCB were bowled out for 109. Delhi Capitals’ disciplined bowling and sharp fielding completely derailed RCB’s batting effort, setting up a modest chase of 110.
