Taking strict action under the state’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, Uttar Pradesh Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal has suspended Mahoba District Excise Officer Rajendra Prasad Verma with immediate effect.
A video of Rajendra Prasad Verma allegedly accepting a bribe in Mahoba district went viral on social media on August 26.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the Excise Minister directed the District Magistrate of Mahoba to conduct an inquiry. In the investigation, Verma was found prima facie guilty.
Acting on the findings, the Excise Minister suspended Verma on Tuesday as per rules.
Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is firmly implementing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
“The Yogi government is committed to taking strict action against corruption. There is no place for the corrupt in the state. Whoever is found indulging in such practices will face the strictest punishment,” he added.
