The Himachal Pradesh government is giving top priority to skill development and employment generation for youth, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani said while presiding over a review meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation on Wednesday.
Dharmani stated that innovative initiatives are being undertaken to enhance the skills of young people and promote self-reliance across the state.
The state aims to open new avenues of employment and self-employment by aligning training programmes with current market demands and encouraging innovation.
The Minister directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the effective implementation of skill training initiatives.
He stressed the need to equip the youth with practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills to help them face future challenges in an increasingly competitive environment.
He said the various schemes being run by the state government are focused on improving the capabilities and employability of young people. Several innovative measures are being introduced in certified training programmes conducted by the Skill Development Corporation.
During the financial year 2024–25, around 4,100 trainees were awarded certificates in trades such as automotive, construction, apparel, and electronics.
In addition, over 650 youth received certifications in other sectors, including agriculture, handicrafts, and healthcare.
A presentation was also made during the meeting by Knowledge Corporation Limited, showcasing progress, challenges, and future plans related to training and employment generation.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering the youth of Himachal Pradesh through skill development and capacity building.
