Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Medical Education, Health, Family Welfare, and Mother and Child Welfare Brajesh Pathak has announced that post-mortem examination reports in cases of accidents or other medico-legal incidents will now be provided to families within five hours.
He stated that the government will ensure timely delivery of post-mortem reports in accidental death cases across the state and is also considering measures to address the shortage of paramedical staff in hospitals.
Speaking to the media in Gorakhpur on Sunday, Mr. Pathak said that Purvanchal has overcome the menace of brain fever, which has helped restore public trust in government hospitals.
He added that the campaign against infectious diseases has been effective through the ‘Dastak’ program, and health workers have been instructed to remain prepared to tackle mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue. Doctors have also been directed to provide medical services and essential medicines in flood-affected areas.
The Deputy CM informed that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been established in both rural and urban areas, ensuring that basic health facilities are accessible within walking distance. These centers also offer telemedicine and specialist referral services for complex medical conditions. The motto of these centers is ‘Arogya Param Dhanam’ (Health is the Greatest Wealth).
He further said that over 5.20 crore Ayushman Golden Cards have been issued in the state, enabling low-income families to receive free treatment of up to ₹5 lakh in government and selected private hospitals. So far, 83 percent of claims made by Golden Card beneficiaries have been successfully settled.
Mr. Pathak emphasized the integration of medical treatment with modern technology, adding that all super-specialty hospitals in the state will be linked to the Ayushman Card scheme. Currently, 5,854 hospitals are empanelled under this scheme.
Highlighting improvements in medical education, he said that medical colleges have now been established in nearly all districts, and around 6,500 doctors will graduate every year to serve the public. He also acknowledged the essential role of nurses, saying the government stands firmly with them.
As in previous years, a free health camp will be organized in Lucknow from September 17 to October 2, to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Pathak also said that under the Prime Minister’s initiative, all individuals above the age of 70 have been provided with the Vaya Vandana Ayushman Card, which enables them to receive treatment for serious ailments at higher medical centers without any shortage of medicines.
