Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Assam on Saturday (February 14) on a day-long programme to inaugurate multiple infrastructure projects, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister will arrive at Chabua airbase in Dibrugarh and proceed to Moran to inaugurate the Advanced Emergency Landing Facility (AELF), the first highway-based AELF in the Northeast.

Built on a 4.2 km stretch of National Highway-37 (NH-2), the facility serves as a strategic dual-use infrastructure designed for the landing of aircraft during combat or disaster, enhancing security near the China border.

Sarma said 16 Indian Air Force combat aircraft, including Rafale, Sukhoi, and Tejas jets, etc, will land and take off from the Moran facility following the inauguration. Modi will then fly from Moran to Guwahati, the chief minister said.

“In Guwahati, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the bridge between the Guwahati and North Guwahati over the Brahmaputra River, which itself is an architectural marvel, and inaugurate the temporary campus of the IIM Guwahati virtually from the Lachit Ghat in Guwahati,” he said.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a Hyper Scale Data Centre built at Amingaon in Guwahati, the same day, and dedicate to the people of Assam about 100 EV and CNG buses. “Following this inauguration, the Prime Minister would visit the Veterinary field ground at Khanapara to address the BJ booth Sanmilani, where lakhs of booth level members of the BJ would arrive,” he said, adding that Modi will leave for New Delhi the same evening.
