Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took to social media platform X to share an insightful article by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who recently visited India’s Northeast region and praised its natural beauty and resilient spirit.
In his write-up, Scindia referred to the Northeast as the country’s “Ashtalakshmi,” symbolising its rich natural and cultural wealth. He emphasised the region’s growing importance as India’s natural gateway to Southeast Asia, describing it not just as a frontier, but as India’s “forward face.”
During his visit to Meghalaya and Assam, Scindia remarked, “I had the privilege of observing nature at its most authentic, where the grandeur of the environment is complemented by the cultural richness of the communities that inhabit it.”
PM Modi’s endorsement of Scindia’s article underscores the government’s focus on integrating the Northeast into India’s Act East Policy and strengthening ties with Southeast Asian nations, highlighting the region’s strategic and cultural significance in India’s broader development agenda.
