The Haryana government has approved a hike of ₹2,100 in the monthly wages of rural sanitation workers, increasing their remuneration from ₹16,000 to ₹18,100 with effect from July 1, 2026.

Announcing the decision on Tuesday, Haryana Cabinet Minister Krishna Bedi said the wage revision fulfils the assurance given by the state government during the sanitation workers’ agitation. He said the enhanced salary reflects the government’s commitment to improving the financial security and welfare of sanitation workers serving in villages across the state.

Bedi said rural sanitation workers play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and public health, and the government has honoured the commitment made to them by implementing the promised increase in their wages.

The minister expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for approving the proposal, stating that the decision demonstrates the government’s concern for the welfare of frontline sanitation workers. He added that the revised wages are expected to provide financial relief to thousands of workers and their families while boosting their morale.

According to the government, the revised monthly salary of ₹18,100 will be applicable from July 1, 2026, and will benefit rural sanitation workers engaged by various government agencies across Haryana.
