The Election Commission of India Friday commenced a one-day workshop for Media and Communication Officers of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) offices of all states and union territories in New Delhi. The workshop, aiming to enhance the capacity of media and communication officers in effectively disseminating information and promoting voter awareness, was inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in the presence of Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.
The workshop further aims to bolster communication strategies to counter the rising tide of misinformation by ensuring the timely and coordinated dissemination of factual, rule-based information about elections, reinforcing India’s constitutional framework for elections.
The ECI has been working towards improving voter participation and awareness through various initiatives, and this workshop is part of its efforts to strengthen its communication machinery.
The workshop is expected to discuss best practices in voter awareness and communication, as well as share experiences and strategies for effective outreach. The ECI’s focus on voter education and awareness is crucial in ensuring a well-informed electorate and promoting democratic participation.
The workshop reflects the ECI’s commitment to strengthening its communication infrastructure and promoting voter awareness across the country. By bringing together media and communication officers from all States and UTs, the ECI aims to foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the pursuit of free and fair elections.
