The Dharma Dhwaj, which was hoisted atop the Ram temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, represents dignity, unity, and civilisational continuity and is considered a symbol of the ideals of Ramrajya.
The specially designed flag, measuring 22 feet in length and 11 feet in width, was hoisted atop the temple to mark this historic occasion.
The flag was designed by a parachute expert from Ahmedabad. Weighing two to three kilograms, it is designed to withstand the winds and weather conditions experienced on the 161-foot-high temple summit and the 42-foot-high flagstaff.
The radiant sun depicted on the flag symbolises the brilliance, valour, and divine influence of Lord Ram. Additionally, the ‘Om’ symbol and the Kovidara tree are engraved on the flag, conveying a message of spirituality and cultural continuity.
According to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, this Dharma Dhwaj represents dignity, unity, and civilisational continuity and is considered a symbol of the ideals of Ramrajya. It was installed on the top of the temple, which is built in the traditional North Indian Nagara style.
The approximately 800-metre-long parakota wall is built in the South Indian style, reflecting the architectural diversity of the temple complex.
The flag hoisting ceremony was conducted amid highly enthusiastic devotees and was seen as another historic chapter following the completion of the temple construction.
