In a video message ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the people of the state have allowed him to serve continuously since 2005 and credited the NDA for the state’s progress.

“When we took office, being called a Bihari was considered an insult. Today, it is a matter of pride,” Kumar said, highlighting his government’s inclusive approach. “Be it Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, backward castes, extremely backward castes, Dalits, or Mahadalits — work has been done for everyone. I did nothing for my family, only for the people,” he added.

“With NDA governments at both the Centre and the state, the pace of development has accelerated significantly,” he said, lauding the NDA’s governance.

Earlier on Friday, the NDA released its poll manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Nitish Kumar, the CM face of the NDA, made headlines after walking out within seconds of the launch, prompting speculation in political circles that all is not well within the ruling alliance.

Speaking to reporters, a senior Congress leader claimed that the NDA’s manifesto release event lasted only 26 seconds, alleging that the leaders were afraid of facing questions from journalists about their 20-year rule.

CM Nitish Kumar, his deputy Samrat Choudhary, BJP president JP Nadda, Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, and other alliance leaders unveiled the NDA manifesto in under a minute. All then left the venue except the deputy CM, who stayed back to answer a few questions from the media.

An announcement was made from the dais stating that the leaders had to leave due to other poll-related engagements.

The Congress, meanwhile, questioned why Nitish Kumar was not allowed to speak at the manifesto launch despite being the NDA’s chief ministerial face.
