Sunny Leone has revealed that she was not fully convinced she would actually be part of Kennedy, at least not until she stepped onto the set.
The actress, who is preparing for the streaming release of the film, said her first reaction to being offered the role was disbelief.

Even after going through auditions, trials and workshops for the Anurag Kashyap directorial, she felt unsure.
Waiting for the first shot
Sunny shared that the entertainment industry can be unpredictable and things can change quickly. Because of that, she did not feel secure about the role in the beginning.
She admitted that she only relaxed after the first shot was completed and the team moved on to the next one. That moment, she said, made her feel like she was finally locked into the project and wouldn’t be replaced.
A scene that stayed with her
Talking about the film, Sunny said one particular scene stayed with her even after pack-up. It is a moment where her character Charlie is alone in a hotel room, waiting for a police officer. The character is scared and upset, yet she knows what is coming.
Sunny described the transition, from being vulnerable in the bathroom to putting on a forced smile, as something many people can relate to.
Sometimes, she said, people wear a smile just to get through a difficult situation, even when they don’t want to.
Drawn to the film’s layers
Sunny also said she enjoys films that make viewers think. According to her, Kennedy has multiple layers and feels provocative in a thoughtful way.
She liked how the dialogues demand attention and how the story connects to real emotions. And also described the film’s noir setting as something that added to its depth.
Release details
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Kennedy also stars Rahul Bhat. The film is scheduled to stream on ZEE5 from February 20, 2026.
