Now that we eagerly wait for Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2, here are six of the biggest mysteries that fans badly, badly want answers to.
1. Holly Wheeler’s kidnapping and life inside Henry Creel’s home
One of the most astonishing moments has to be in Episode 2 titled ‘The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler’. Holly is kidnapped by a Demogorgon in a brutal attack that nearly kills her parents too. But instead of tormenting her, Henry Creel, better known as Vecna, brings her to his house.
What confuses everyone is that Holly behaves as if nothing terrible ever happened. She is calm, comfortable, and even seems to be enjoying her time there. Henry gives her gifts, comfort, even music… none of it makes sense.

2. Horrifying flesh wall surrounding Upside Down
Stranger Things has shown us a host of disturbing things. But the giant flesh structure in the Upside Down must be the most unsettling yet. This strange wall of muscle, veins, pulsing sacks is wrapped around Hawkins Lab and parts of the Upside Down.
What scares viewers even more is that Eleven’s powers cannot break it. It does not burn, it does not tear, and it does not react to her at all.
This raises huge questions. What is inside it? Is it alive? And is it protecting something? Or perhaps hiding something far worse?
Everything hints that the truth behind this living wall could reshape entire story of Upside Down.
3. Max’s survival inside Vecna’s mind
Max’s death in the previous season broke fans’ hearts, truly. But Season 5 surprised everyone by revealing she is still alive trapped inside Henry’s mind.
Even stranger, she is hiding in a cave tucked deep inside Vecna’s memories, a place he himself fears entering. That tiny detail has driven fans wild. Why would Vecna be scared of his own memory? What happened in that cave?
If Max is alive in his head, does that mean she can return to the real world? Could she fight back from inside his mind?
Stranger Things Volume 2 may finally show us whether Max’s story is truly over, or if she gets a second chance.
4. Vecna’s new connection with music
Last season made one rule very clear: music can weaken Vecna. It helped Max escape his attack, and it became a symbol of hope.
But this season flips the idea completely. Vecna gives Holly a cassette player and even her favorite song. Suddenly, the monster who was once defeated by music is using it himself.
Fans are debating two major theories: Is Vecna now immune to music? Or is he trying to manipulate Holly by giving her something she trusts and loves?
Either way, music is no longer a simple weapon. It has now become another mystery.
5. What is the source of Will’s new powers?
Another exciting moment in these new episodes is watching how Will unlocks new abilities. He kills Demogorgons in the same eerie bone-cracking style that Vecna used in Stranger Things Season 4.
But excitement quickly turned into fear.
If Will has powers similar to Vecna… does that mean something dark is happening to him?
Ever since Season 1, Will has been connected to the Upside Down. Now fans worry this connection may finally be transforming him into something new, maybe even something dangerous.
6. Who is the true master? Vecna or Mind Flayer?
So far focus in Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 has been on Vecna mostly. But the Mind Flayer, the shadow creature that once controlled Hawkins has been completely missing.
Is Vecna really the main villain? Or is the Mind Flayer still the true, actual ruler of the Upside Down?
Fans believe Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 may reveal a power struggle much bigger than anyone imagined and possibly show that Vecna is not the mastermind after all, but well, let’s wait for the trailer and the full show.
