Reality TV icon Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, are taking singer Ray J to court after he accused them of being involved in a criminal scheme.
The defamation lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, comes just days after Ray J went live on social media and made shocking allegations.
Ray J, whose real name is Ray Norwood Jr., claimed during the livestream that he was working with prosecutors on a federal RICO case against Kim and Kris. “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy, and the feds are coming,” he told viewers.

The lawsuit strongly denied his words, calling them completely false. “No such federal investigation exists,” the filing stated, adding that his behavior was an attempt to use social media to spread lies. Lawyers for the Kardashian-Jenner duo argued that such remarks can seriously damage their reputation and careers, even if they are baseless.
Their attorney, Alex Spiro, explained to ‘People’ magazine why they chose to fight back. “Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise. But this false and serious allegation left no choice,” he said.
The legal team also highlighted that Ray J has made similar inflammatory comments in the past. During his livestream, he even compared his claims to the ongoing federal case against rapper Diddy. He suggested the Kardashian-Jenner matter was “worse”.

The lawsuit also made a personal note, pointing back to Kim’s past relationship with Ray J. The two dated more than 20 years ago. This was long before Kim rose to global fame. The court papers said that Ray J has struggled to move on and continues to use Kim’s name for publicity.
“Unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago, Ray J has repeatedly sought to attach himself to Plaintiffs’ names and exploit their prominence for personal gain,” the filing read.
This case marks a rare moment where Kim and Kris have taken legal action over rumors. The Kardashian family, often at the center of headlines, has usually ignored negative talk or online drama. But this time, they say the accusations were too damaging to let slide.
