Actor Jackie Shroff took a quiet moment on social media to remember legendary star Madhubala on her 57th death anniversary, calling her an everlasting symbol of grace and beauty.
A nostalgic musical nod
Marking the occasion, Jackie shared a sepia-toned vintage photograph of Madhubala on his Instagram Stories. To make the tribute more personal, he added the iconic track Jab Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya by Lata Mangeshkar in the background.
Alongside the image, he wrote simply: “In loving memory of Madhubala ji. Remembering her enduring legacy on her death anniversary.”
A star who defined an era
Madhubala remains one of the most celebrated faces in Indian cinema. Over a career that spanned roughly two decades, she appeared in more than 70 films and showed remarkable range, from light-hearted comedies to intense period dramas.
She began acting as a child and first appeared in Basant. By the late 1940s, she had moved into lead roles and gained recognition with films like Neel Kamal and Amar.
Career highs and iconic performances
Her filmography includes memorable titles such as Mahal, Tarana, Mr. & Mrs. ’55, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Howrah Bridge, and Barsaat Ki Raat.
However, it was her portrayal of Anarkali in Mughal-e-Azam that made her place in cinema history and earned widespread critical acclaim.
Personal life and early loss
In 1960, Madhubala married singer-actor Kishore Kumar. For much of her adult life, she battled health complications caused by a ventricular septal defect. She passed away in 1969 at the age of just 36.

The upcoming comedy features a large ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Lara Dutta, and Jacqueline Fernandez, among others.
