After creating waves at some of the world’s biggest film festivals, Neeraj Ghaywan’s much-awaited film ‘Homebound’ is all set to arrive in Indian cinemas on September 26, 2025.

The film, featuring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, has already earned international praise. It premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, where it received a nine-minute standing ovation, and was also showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Now, Indian audiences will finally get to experience the story on the big screen.

The news was confirmed by Dharma Productions, the banner behind the project, through a social media post. “No feeling is final. #Homebound is releasing in cinemas on 26th September, worldwide,” the production house wrote on Instagram.

‘Homebound’ follows the journey of two childhood friends from a small village in North India. Both dream of becoming police officers, hoping the job will give them dignity and recognition that life has long denied them.

But as the dream comes closer, their friendship is tested by desperation, choices, and circumstances they cannot control.

Director Neeraj Ghaywan, known for his celebrated debut ‘Masaan’ (2015), called the film “a deeply personal story.

He added that the film shines a light on people often ignored by society. This is about those who live with quiet resilience and strength in a world that rarely notices them.

One of the biggest highlights of ‘Homebound’ is the presence of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese as an executive producer. Scorsese revealed he was impressed by Ghaywan’s storytelling after watching ‘Masaan’.

“When I was introduced to this new project, I was curious and drawn to it. Neeraj has crafted a powerful, beautifully made film that makes an important mark in Indian cinema,” Scorsese said in a note shared by the team. He also expressed happiness that the movie was chosen for the prestigious “Un Certain Regard” category at Cannes.
