Actor Fahadh Faasil has revealed that he plays the villain in director Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming thriller Patriot, which brings together Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars, Mammootty and Mohanlal.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on April 23 this year and has been one of the most anticipated Malayalam projects since its announcement.

Big reveal at a public event
While speaking at a recent event, the actor confirmed his role on stage. “I play the villain in Patriot,” the actor said, drawing loud cheers from the audience.
During the same interaction, Fahadh also confirmed that a sequel to his blockbuster film Aavesham is in the works. Addressing fans’ constant questions, he said, “Yes, Aavesham 2 is there. Hopefully, around 2027 or 2028.”
Mohanlal completes dubbing
Meanwhile, the makers of Patriot have announced that Mohanlal has completed dubbing for his portions in the film.
Sharing a video on the film’s official Instagram handle, the team posted a clip of the actor giving a thumbs-up after finishing his dubbing session. The post read, “Some voices do not just speak, they define moments. Mohanlal has completed dubbing for Patriot. In cinemas worldwide from April 23.”
Shoot wrapped, expectations high
Earlier this year, the makers confirmed that the film’s shooting had been completed. Announcing the wrap, they shared a behind-the-scenes video featuring the cast and crew and wrote, “That’s a wrap. Blood, sweat, belief. Patriot marches on. See you on the big screen.”
Star-studded cast and intriguing teaser
Apart from Mammootty and Mohanlal, Patriot also stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and Revathy in key roles.
The teaser, released last year, further raised expectations with its intense visuals and powerful dialogue. It ends with Mammootty posing a striking question: “Great Indian traitor… or Patriot?”
Overall, the teaser suggests that Patriot will explore the fight against illegal monitoring of citizens, making it a politically charged and socially relevant thriller.
