The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) unfurled IFFIESTA, its signature musical and cultural showcase, which was inaugurated at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium on the first day of the ongoing festival in Goa

Organised by Doordarshan and WAVES OTT, the grand event marked the festival’s continued journey of blending cinema with music, art and live performance.

In his opening remarks, K. Satish Nambudiripad, Director General of Doordarshan, reflected on Doordarshan’s evolution in the era of digital streaming.

“We all are aware that the lineage channel which is the product of the satellite revolution is slowly giving its way to the digital revolution,” he said.

“It is pertinent for Doordarshan to evolve according to the demand of time. That’s precisely what it has done with WAVES OTT. The platform offers safe, wholesome entertainment for family.”

Addressing younger audiences, he urged them to rediscover Doordarshan’s enduring value: “Come to Doordarshan to see the strength of a legacy that it represents.”

Actor Anupam Kher spoke about his bond with the broadcaster. “We all have started our life from Doordarshan,” he said.

“We are fortunate that it was Doordarshan that introduced us to the world of cinema. I was born because of Doordarshan. Doordarshan is a fragrance that lingers in our lives, still wrapping us in its embrace.”

South Korean MP and acclaimed vocalist Jaewon Kim opened the celebrations with a moving rendition of Vande Mataram.

“I am very happy to be here. Thank you for the warm welcome,” she said. “I am sincerely looking forward to content collaboration between India and Korea.” The show concluded with a vibrant two-hour performance by singer-songwriter Osho Jain.
