It almost reads like the opening of a Bollywood drama. There are two children caught in the middle of a high-stakes inheritance battle. There is a stepmother accused of holding back their rightful share. And, there are whispers of a fortune so vast it could fund entire film empires. Except this story is not playing out on screen. It is unfolding inside the quiet but powerful walls of the Delhi High Court, where the late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s wealth, estimated at a jaw-dropping ₹30,000 crore, is now at the center of a bitter dispute.

On one side stand Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Raj Kapur, the children of actress Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur. On the other side is Priya Kapur, Sunjay’s wife at the time of his passing. At stake is not just money, but the question of whether Sunjay’s last wishes are being honored, or manipulated.

The courtroom saw new sparks on Friday when Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma’s children, raised sharp allegations. He claimed that Priya Kapur had already shifted assets under the will into her own name. In his words, “confidentiality is a cloak under which you fritter away the assets.”

His argument was clear: if everything about the estate remains secret, then there is no way of knowing whether the children are being unfairly pushed aside. He told the court that according to what he believes is a “bogus” will, Samaira and Kiaan have been left with nothing, while two bank accounts have been “wiped clean” and even a 6% company stake has been moved into Priya’s hands.

The opposing camp, led by Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar for Priya Kapur, asked the court for confidentiality. He requested that details of the assets, once filed, should remain in sealed covers and never reach the public eye.

“It is up to the court if it wants to enforce it, but at least nobody should discuss the case outside,” he argued.

Samaira and Kiaan claim they are being “denied everything” from their father’s massive fortune. According to their legal team, this is not about greed but about fairness, especially when it comes to the rights of minors in inheritance cases.

Sources close to Karisma Kapoor’s side had earlier pointed out that the children’s supposed stake in the ₹1,900-crore RK Trust has no connection to Sunjay’s personal assets. That trust, set up in the name of Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur, is believed to be outside the scope of this legal battle.
