>>>>>The series is adapted from Julie Miller’s Vanity Fair article, “True Crime, True Faith: The Serial Killer and the Texas Mom Who Stopped Him,” with Bash Doran attached as writer and showrunner.

The Story Behind the Series

According to the official logline, Fear Not chronicles the chilling story of Stephen Morin, a prolific serial killer accused of more crimes than Ted Bundy, and the unexpected bond he formed with Margy Palm (played by Hathaway), the final woman he abducted.

What began as a terrifying captivity evolved into an extraordinary relationship shaped by compassion, faith and resilience. Palm’s belief that Morin could change, and her courage to confront him, played a pivotal role in events that continued long after her release, lasting until Morin was sentenced to death.

Anne Hathaway’s Dual Role

In addition to starring in the series, Hathaway will serve as an executive producer through her Somewhere Pictures banner alongside Adam Shulman and Johnathan Rice, according to Variety.

The project is produced by MGM Television, with Steve Stark and Stacey Levin executive producing for Toluca Pictures. Helen Eastbrook represents Vanity Fair Studios, while Margy, Bart and Noelle Palm are also on board as executive producers.

Paramount’s Focus on Female-Led Stories

Fear Not adds to Paramount’s expanding slate of women-driven series following the Paramount–Skydance merger. Under the leadership of Cindy Holland, Chair of DTC for Paramount, and Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals, the platform has been actively prioritising female-led storytelling.

“At Paramount, we are always looking for stories that captivate and entertain our audience,” said Wiseman. “By grounding this chilling true story in the lived experience of our protagonist, Anne brings a level of nuance and gravity that only a performer of her calibre can.”

Bash Doran’s Expanding Television Slate

The project marks another major television venture for Bash Doran. He recently co-wrote the Hulu drama pilot Foster Dade with Greg Berlanti and has another pilot, How to Survive Without Me, in development at HBO Max.
