US President Donald Trump on Friday, June 12, accused Iran of carrying out drone attack on Indian ships leaving the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that this was “totally unacceptable.”
The US President’s social media post came after three vessels with Indian crew came under attack off the Oman coast this week, with one of them resulting in the death of three Indian seafarers on Wednesday.
“The terms that Iran leaked out to the Fake News have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing. What they said, including their weak and pathetic statement on having a deal, bears no relation to the truth. Very dishonorable people to deal with. With them, there is no such thing as dealing in good faith. AMAZING,” he wrote.
The US President added, “Also, their totally rebuffed Drone attack last night against Indian Ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. They better get their act together, and FAST!”
Described the attacks on commercial vessels as “deeply worrisome,” India has strongly taken up the matter with the US.
On Friday, India summoned US charge d’affaires Jason Meeks. The official was told that the American military’s “lethal and deadly” strikes on commercial vessels with Indian crew members off the coast of Oman are “unacceptable”.
