Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent claim that “five jets were shot down” during the India-Pakistan conflict in May.

In a post on social media platform X, Gandhi asked, “Modi ji, what is the truth about the five jets? The country has the right to know!”

President Trump had, on Friday, claimed that “five jets were shot down” during the India-Pakistan conflict in May following a terror attack in Pahalgam, without specifying which country suffered the losses.

He made the remark during a White House dinner with Republican senators, while highlighting his administration’s role in brokering a ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for the ceasefire, stating that his administration “got it solved through trade.” However, India has maintained that the de-escalation was managed bilaterally without any foreign intervention.

A ceasefire was declared between India and Pakistan on May 10, after four days of intense clashes involving fighter jets, missiles, drones, and artillery.
