‘FOMO’ jokes flood social media

The internet’s favourite punchline? That Kim might be feeling left out.

Many memes jokingly suggest the North Korean leader has ‘FOMO’, the fear of missing out, as the conflict dominates global headlines.

Recent Developments: Missile launch raises concerns

Behind the jokes, however, there was a serious development.

According to the military of South Korea, North Korea launched about ten unidentified ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said they detected the missiles around 1:20 pm from the Sunan area near Pyongyang.

The projectiles reportedly flew toward waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

The missile launch came after Pyongyang warned of “terrible consequences” over ongoing annual military exercises conducted by South Korea and the United States.

Seoul confirmed the launch in a brief statement but did not immediately provide details about the missiles or their range.

Japan’s coast guard also acknowledged the launch shortly afterwards. Citing information from the defence ministry, officials said a possible ballistic missile had been fired from North Korea around 1:30 pm local time.
