Flora started acting in 1999 with the Telugu film ‘Prema Kosam’. Interestingly, the filmmakers rechristened her “Asha Saini” according to astrology, without even consulting her! Although the film remained in the shadows, it was not long before Flora made a splash in front of the audience with EVV Satyanarayana’s ‘Chal Bagundi’.

In the 2000s, she became a regular presence on Telugu screens, usually in the second lead to stars in movies such as ‘Prematho Raa’, ‘Narasimha Naidu’, and ‘Nuvvu Naku Nachav’.

In her career, Flora Saini has worked on approximately 150 films from the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi film industries.

Behind the camera, Flora has had to fight battles that demanded more guts than any of her roles. In 2018, at the time of the #MeToo movement, she revealed that she had suffered domestic violence at the hands of her live-in boyfriend producer Gaurang Doshi.

She described in interviews how she had left her family to live with him but was subjected to abuse shortly thereafter. Looking back, she compared what had happened to her with the shocking murder of Shraddha Walkar in Delhi.

“Your parents notice the red flags,” Flora said. “I too left my home, and in a week, I was getting bashed. I had no idea why because in my opinion, he was a very nice fellow.”

Aside from acting, Flora serves as a proponent of women’s rights using her celebrity status. She talks freely about her own experiences and promotes resilience, empowerment, and self-awareness regarding issues of women.

Now, when she enters the Bigg Boss Telugu 9 house, audiences are keen to see the actress that they have admired on screen face problems in real life.
