Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 75 redeveloped ‘Amrit Stations’ of Indian Railways and other projects under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ on Friday including the Aishbagh station in the state capital.
The inauguration of these 75 Amrit Stations across 20 states marks one of the world’s largest station redevelopment programs.
As part of this initiative, the redeveloped Aishbagh Jn. railway station of the North Eastern Railway’s Lucknow Division was inaugurated today.
A program was organized at Aishbagh Jn. station, attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Seth, MLCs Lalji Prasad Nirmal and Mukesh Sharma, Vice-Chairperson of the UP State Women’s Commission Aparna Bisht Yadav, BJP City President Anand Dwivedi, Representative of the Union Defence Minister Diwakar Tripathi, other public representatives, Divisional Railway Manager (Lucknow Division) Gaurav Agarwal, and senior officials.
The Divisional Railway Manager stated that the comprehensive upgradation work of Aishbagh Jn. station has been completed. This modernization will provide better amenities to thousands of passengers. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station has been equipped with modern, safe, and convenient world-class passenger facilities. This will ensure a safe, seamless, and excellent travel experience for passengers and foster the overall development of the region.
In his address, Pathak spoke about the redeveloped Aishbagh Jn. station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Highlighting the passenger amenities available at the station, he expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
During the event, Pathak apprised the gathering of the features of the country’s first hydrogen train, which is set to operate between Jind and Sonipat stations. Subsequently, he encouraged the participants by awarding prizes to the winners of the essay and painting competitions.
On this occasion, Scouts and Guides presented a program featuring music, dance, and a short play.
It is noteworthy that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway has completed extensive upgradation work at Aishbagh Junction station at a cost of approximately ₹24.13 crore. This modernization will provide improved facilities to thousands of passengers. With the completion of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station is now equipped with modern, safe, convenient, and world-class passenger amenities.
The project involved the extensive expansion and beautification of the station premises. Improvements to traffic management and the development of high-standard parking facilities were also included. Features such as modern flooring on platforms, modern restrooms, an upgraded parking area (5,500 sq. meters), green parks within the circulating area (4,300 sq. meters), and standard-compliant LED signage for passenger guidance have been installed. ‘Cow catchers’ have been provided at entry gates on both sides. The station now boasts 26 new shelters and an expanded circulating area. Modern waiting halls, along with baby feeding rooms and separate restrooms, have been constructed.
A parcel office, ‘pay-and-use’ toilets, a large parking area, and an aesthetically pleasing façade have also been developed. Energy needs are met through DG sets and solar panels, while rainwater harvesting systems have been installed for environmental sustainability. Special facilities—such as ramps, wheelchairs, and Braille maps—are available for differently-abled persons and senior citizens. Regarding future plans, an FOB and lifts on platforms 1 and 6 are currently operational.
Construction of a new 6-meter-wide FOB is scheduled to begin in September 2026, with a target completion date of August 31, 2027.
Subsequently, lift facilities will be available on every platform, and escalators will be provided at both ends. This upgrade will establish Aishbagh Station as a modern and passenger-friendly hub. Through this initiative by the Ministry of Railways, Aishbagh Junction is evolving into an attractive, modern, and passenger-friendly station. The project will provide a safe, convenient, and excellent travel experience for passengers and contribute to the overall development of the region.
