From 8 in the morning, officials start the long process of counting votes across all 126 assembly constituencies. Inside strong rooms, sealed machines are in place under tight watch. Outside, party workers, candidates, anxious supporters wait for the first signs of who is leading.
The voting took place in a single phase on April 9, and the people responded in large numbers. More than 85 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots.

Raijor Dal candidate Mehboob Muktar is leading with 8,047 votes, ahead by 5,998 votes.
AIUDF candidate Matiur Rahman is trailing with 2,049 votes.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Prabhat Das Panika is ahead with 7,700 votes, maintaining a narrow margin of 331 votes after Round 2 of 15.
Gaurav Gogoi says Congress monitoring counting closely across Assam
Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi said the party has deployed multiple observers across the state to closely monitor the vote counting process.
He said these observers are in constant touch with the AICC team, which will escalate any complaints to the Election Commission of India. Gogoi added that the party is hopeful of a positive result and is carefully tracking each round of counting.
He further said that Congress has set up monitoring systems in every district and counting centre to watch for any administrative lapses or malpractice. According to him, party workers are also checking EVM movement and related procedures from the first round itself.
Gogoi also referred to past concerns raised by the party regarding unused EVMs being stored without proper security, saying Congress had previously highlighted such issues after field visits by its representatives.

Dotma (2) shows Rabiram Narzary leading with 2,577 votes and a margin of 537 in Round 1/13. Baokhungri (4) has Rupam Chandra Roy ahead with 4,189 votes and a margin of 2,177 in Round 1/16.
Manas (41) shows Thaneswar Basumatary leading with 4,461 votes and a margin of 2,061 in Round 1/19.

Strong security and new QR system in place for vote counting in Jorhat
District Commissioner of Jorhat, Jay Shivani, said that preparations for vote counting have been completed smoothly. The strong rooms of all four constituencies have been opened in the presence of candidates’ representatives and official observers to ensure full transparency.
He said that counting agents are now entering the counting halls across all four constituencies. This time, the Election Commission of India has introduced QR code-based ID cards. Security personnel from the CRPF are being allowed entry only after scanning these QR codes outside the counting centres.
As per guidelines, counting of postal ballots will begin at 8:00 am, while counting of votes from EVMs will start 30 minutes later. A strict three-tier security system has been put in place to maintain order.
Officials have also ensured that no unauthorised person can carry mobile phones or communication devices inside the counting halls. However, candidates are allowed to enter as per the rules.

BJP candidate Munindra Das confident of big win ahead of counting
BJP candidate Munindra Das said he began his day early as vote counting is set to start at 8 am. He visited the sacred Gangmou Than to seek blessings before heading to the counting centre with party workers and counting agents.
Das expressed strong confidence in the outcome, saying he is certain of winning the election by a huge margin.

Heavy security deployed for vote counting across the state
A total of 25 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed to guard counting centres and strongrooms where the electronic voting machines (EVMs) are stored.
Around 800 additional unarmed police personnel will be engaged to safely transport EVMs from strongrooms to counting halls. Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel had also said that two extra CAPF companies will remain on static duty as an added precaution.
In addition, 93 companies of state armed police have already been stationed across districts. Authorities have also mobilised 85 Assault Groups to respond quickly to any untoward situation on counting day.
Exit poll predicts landslide win for BJP-led NDA in Assam
According to the Axis My India exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is likely to secure a big victory in the Assam Assembly elections. The alliance is projected to win between 88 and 100 seats out of 126.
The Congress-led alliance is expected to fall behind, with an estimated 24 to 36 seats. The BJP alone is likely to emerge as the single-largest party, with a projected tally of 70 to 80 seats.
