Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the victory of the Indian men’s hockey team over defending champions South Korea in the Asia Cup 2025 final as “a proud moment for Indian hockey and Indian sports.”

He also extended his congratulations to the players and expressed his hope that the Indian players continue to reach even greater heights and bring further glory to the nation.

The team defeated the defending champions, South Korea, 4-1 in the Asia Cup 2025 final held at Rajgir, Bihar, marking a significant achievement for Indian hockey. The Indian men’s hockey team lifted the Asia Cup 2025 title after an eight-year wait.

PM Modi took to social media to praise the team’s achievement, saying, “Congratulations to our Men’s Hockey Team for their splendid win in the Asia Cup 2025 held in Rajgir, Bihar. The victory not only brought the Asia Cup title to India but also qualified the team for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The team’s dominant performance in the final, with goals from Sukhjeet Singh, Dilpreet Singh, and Amit Rohidas, showcased their skill and determination. The Indian team dominated the match from the start, with Sukhjeet Singh scoring the first goal within 30 seconds of the game. Dilpreet Singh scored a double, while Amit Rohidas added another goal to seal the win.
