Former Indian cricketer and Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach Parthiv Patel is stepping into the world of tech entrepreneurship. He has invested in SportzEngage Technology, a Bangalore-based startup. The entity uses artificial intelligence to transform how sports especially cricket are analysed and played. This marks Parthiv’s very first move as an investor.

SportzEngage already has backing of angel investor Kunal Sinha, the founder of GlowRoad, which Amazon had acquired. With Parthiv coming on board, the startup gains not just financial support but also his cricketing expertise. This aims to help shape the technology and connect with players, coaches, and teams.

In a statement, Parthiv said, “As a coach, I’ve seen how smart use of data can make a huge difference from better training sessions to strategic match preparation. AI-based analysis will change how players train, how teams plan, and how new talent comes forward.”

He added that what drew him to SportzEngage was their vision to make these tools available to everyone, not just elite teams. Parthiv plans to actively work with the team, giving insights that will influence product development, improve AI models, and guide the startup’s outreach to the cricketing ecosystem.

SportzEngage’s co-founder and CEO, Kunal Abhishek, expressed his excitement about the collaboration. “Having Parthiv onboard validates our vision. His understanding of the game at the highest level, combined with our tech, is a game-changer,” he said.

Shamik Datta, co-founder and CTO, added that Parthiv’s on-ground experience will help refine their AI platform, CricIQ, ensuring it provides accurate insights and an engaging experience for players and coaches alike.

CricIQ dives in to analyse cricket performance. From evaluating a player’s technique to spotting emerging talent, the platform aims to make data-driven insights. The same insights are accessible to coaches, players, and even fans.

With this collaboration, cricket fans, players, and coaches are now watching closely to see how AI will reshape the game with one of India’s celebrated cricketers leading the charge.
