In a turn of events that felt like redemption, David Miller held his nerve under pressure to guide Delhi Capitals to a thrilling six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026.
Miller, who had fallen short of finishing the job in a previous outing, made amends in style, smashing two sixes and a four in the final over to seal the chase alongside Player of the Match Tristan Stubbs, who remained unbeaten on 60. The victory also snapped Delhi’s two-match losing streak.
“It feels really good. Obviously, I was a bit disappointed a couple of games ago, but to get myself back in that position and get over the line was satisfying,” Miller said after the match.

Reflecting on that earlier setback, he admitted the memory lingered. “It’s always there at the back of the mind until you win another game. I’ve worked on a few things, just trying to stay in the moment,” he added.
Coming in after Axar Patel retired hurt due to cramps, Miller had a tough start, facing a series of pinpoint yorkers that kept him quiet early on. However, the experienced finisher remained composed.
“My first six balls were all yorkers. I couldn’t get going, but I was really chuffed it came off in the last six balls,” he said.
With over 40 runs needed in the final four overs, Miller explained the approach was to minimise dot balls and capitalise on scoring opportunities. “When you get a boundary or a six, the pressure shifts. It was about staying calm, communicating well, and taking it as deep as possible,” he noted.
Miller also credited Stubbs for helping him reset mentally during a brief break in play. “He told me to keep my intensity high. That reminder helped me get into the right frame of mind,” he revealed.
Stubbs, who anchored the innings after an early collapse before accelerating late, said the pair always believed they could pull it off. “I kept thinking three sixes and we’re back in it. Worst case, we back ourselves in the last over,” he said.
The youngster also expressed full confidence in Miller’s finishing ability. “I knew we’d get there somehow. Having David Miller at the other end—that’s his bread and butter,” Stubbs added.
The composed partnership ultimately proved decisive, with Delhi Capitals pulling off a memorable chase to revive their campaign and regain momentum in IPL 2026.
