Arunachal Pradesh has recorded a significant improvement in learning levels, climbing to the 17th position out of 36 states and union territories in the PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024. The State has successfully moved out of the Bottom 10 bracket, reflecting the impact of ongoing education reforms. PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), the national assessment framework introduced by the Ministry of Education, evaluates student learning outcomes across core subjects. This year’s results reflect a significant surge in language proficiency levels among students of Grades 3, 6 and 9 in Arunachal Pradesh. According to the national assessment, students of Grades 6 and 9 in Arunachal Pradesh performed above the national average in language proficiency, marking a notable leap over previous years’ scores.
The State secured the 12th rank in Grade 9, 14th rank in Grade 6, and 24th rank in Grade 3 categories with an overall 17th rank out of 36. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, while sharing the development on his social media handles, expressed pride over the State’s progress. He said the rankings clearly demonstrate that the ongoing education reforms are “delivering results” and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to transforming the education sector. “Our PARAKH 2024 scores in Grade 6 and 9 have surpassed national averages and past records.
This is a true milestone in our journey of educational transformation,” he said. Khandu also extended gratitude to teachers, students, parents and education officials, acknowledging their vital role in driving the State toward the vision of Shiksit Arunachal, Viksit Arunachal – 2029. Education officials noted that the government’s initiatives—ranging from strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy, improving teacher training, introducing digital learning tools, and upgrading school infrastructure—have contributed significantly to this upward shift. The 2024 PARAKH results are expected to further reinforce Arunachal Pradesh’s reform trajectory, offering renewed momentum to efforts aimed at delivering quality and equitable education across the State.
