Weddings in India are getting a modern makeover, and Pinterest is playing a major role in shaping how couples plan, decorate, and shop for their special day.
New data from Pinterest shows a very significant rise in Indian couples turning to the platform. People turn to its pins not just for inspiration. But they actively design their wedding experiences and buy everything they need online.
From pastel palettes and bohemian haldi ceremonies to regal heritage glamour, Indian weddings are becoming more personalized, stylish, and reflective of individual tastes. Between the first quarter of 2024 and the same period in 2025, Pinterest saw a surge in searches for wedding-related ideas, alongside a strong growth in users creating boards and engaging with shoppable Pins.
Clicks and saves on these Pins jumped by 87% year-over-year. In addition, the creation of Pinterest boards rose 32%.
Soft hues take center stage
Gone are the days when bright and bold colors dominated Indian weddings. A new wave of soft, understated elegance is taking over, and how! Searches for purple-themed weddings skyrocketed by 1,434%. Meanwhile, Soft pink and dusty rose sarees also saw significant interest, increasing 473% and 114%, respectively.
Regal looks make a comeback
At the same time, some couples are drawing inspiration from India’s royal past. Heritage glamour is trending. With this, rich tones and heirloom styles making a comeback.
Pinterest data shows a 415% rise in searches for rose gold wedding jewelry, 150% for burgundy ball gowns, and 190% for unique vintage rings.
Bohemian & nature-inspired celebrations
For those who prefer a relaxed, earthy vibe, boho-themed weddings are on the rise. From sunflower bouquets (+65%) to boho-style haldi ceremonies (+114%), couples are embracing natural textures, wildflowers, and organic décor.
These trends show a shift from traditional formality to celebrations that feel fresh, personal, and in tune with the environment.
Whimsical vintage & retro influences
Nostalgia is also making a stylish appearance. Couples are looking to combine sentimental motifs with modern trends, creating ceremonies that are both emotionally meaningful and visually stunning.
Searches for satin rose bouquets jumped 763%, rose flower photo ideas increased 833%, and vintage gold rings rose 229%.
Culture-driven personalization
Despite modern trends, Indian heritage remains at the heart of wedding planning. Searches for desi wedding decor rose a staggering 1,825%. Baat pakki cards increased 1,254%, and dulha haldi ceremonies went up 1,473%.
From the bride’s nauvari look (+782%) to chuda bangles (+481%), couples are crafting deeply personal weddings.
