Cleansing after Durga Puja: Ayurveda’s natural way to refresh home and body

Cleansing After Durga Puja

Cleansing after Durga Puja: Durga Puja comes with joy, colors, music, food, and devotion. Families and communities every year come together to celebrate the victory of good over evil. These days are full of rituals, offerings, flowers, incense, and lights. And when the celebrations end, the house and the surroundings often look messy. There are decorations you want to down, flowers to remove, and stains of sindoor, turmeric, and oil everywhere.

Let’s admit, cleaning after Durga Puja is not only about putting things in order. In our Indian tradition, cleaning is a form of purification. It helps us to restore balance in the home and in our lives.

Ayurveda and the philosophy of Patanjali give us simple, yet natural ways to do this cleaning. When we follow them, we do not just clean our house. We also detox our body and calm our mind.

In India, every puja or ritual ends with ‘shuddhikaran’. This means purification. Once the goddess bids farewell, the flowers and food start to decay, the oil lamps leave marks, and the decorations gather dust.

If this is not cleared, the energy of the house feels heavy.

Durga Puja celebrates the goddess defeating evil forces. In the same way, when we clean after the puja, we remove dullness and clutter from our home. Ayurveda teaches that the environment outside us is linked with our inner health. A clean house helps us feel calm, happy, and energetic.

Ayurveda’s wisdom on cleansing

Durga Puja happens when the season changes from the rainy months to autumn. This change can affect the body. Many people feel cough, colds, stomach problems, or skin issues during this time. Ayurveda says that at every season change, the body needs cleansing.

There are two types of cleansing. One is external. Here we clean the house and the space around us. The other is internal, where we eat light food, drink herbal teas, and rest the body. After Durga Puja, doing both kinds of cleansing helps us stay healthy and peaceful.

Patanjali, which follows Ayurveda and yoga, has many natural products that can make post-puja cleaning easy.

For the floors and surfaces, there are herbal floor cleaners made with neem, lemon, and pine oil. They remove turmeric and sindoor stains, kill germs, and leave a fresh smell without any harsh chemicals.

The air after puja can feel heavy because of incense and smoke. Lighting Patanjali dhoop sticks made of neem or tulsi helps clear the air and bring freshness back.

During the puja, brass, copper, and silver vessels are used. To clean them, Patanjali herbal dishwash soap can be used. It is gentle and keeps the shine of the vessels.

Festivals also bring heavy eating. After enjoying sweets and fried food, the stomach often feels tired. Patanjali’s aloe vera juice cools the stomach, giloy juice builds immunity, and triphala powder helps in digestion and cleansing.

Cleaning is not only about the home and body. The mind also needs renewal. Simple yoga postures and breathing exercises, like surya namaskar and anulom-vilom, can balance the mind and remove stress after the busy days of celebration.
