Yamuna in spate: Water inching closer to Taj

The water level of Yamuna is rising rapidly and the water has started reaching close to Taj Mahal.

In the next one or two days, the water may touch the wall of Taj Mahal. In normal days, the water of Yamuna is at a considerable distance from Taj Mahal, but due to the release of water from Gokul Barrage and Hathini Kund, the water near touching the Taj Mahal boundary wall.

The water in Yamuna may be reaching dangerous levels, but this has increased the beauty of Taj Mahal even more. District Magistrate Arvind Malappa Bangari on Thursday said that the water level in Yamuna has reached very close to danger mark.

He said 151.40 meter water level is considered to be the danger mark, but right now it is flowing up to 151.03 meters. The water level of Yamuna will increase for a day or two, due to which there is a possibility of flood-like situation in the lower areas of Yamuna, the DM said.
