In a significant move to empower farmers and transform the agricultural sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission in New Delhi.
These groundbreaking initiatives aim to boost productivity, promote crop diversification, and increase farmers’ income.
“We are working tirelessly for the welfare of our farmers, livestock herders, and fishermen,” PM Modi said, highlighting the government’s commitment to the agricultural community. “These initiatives will not only empower our farmers but also secure the future of our nation.”
The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will focus on 100 low-productivity districts, aiming to:
– Enhance agricultural productivity
– Promote crop diversification
– Provide easy access to credit and storage infrastructure
The Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission, on the other hand, seeks to make India self-reliant in pulse production by:
– Increasing productivity
– Expanding cultivation areas
– Strengthening the value chain
“Dalhan Aatmnirbharta Mission is not just about increasing pulse production; it’s a campaign to empower our future generations,” PM Modi emphasized. “Animal husbandry, fish farming, and beekeeping have already empowered small farmers and landless families,” he added.
The launch of these schemes marks a significant step towards achieving the government’s goal of doubling farmers’ income and making India self-reliant in agriculture. Millions of farmers across the country are expected to benefit from these initiatives, enhancing their income and livelihood.
