A message being widely circulated on social media and WhatsApp, claiming that Jet Airways is giving away free tickets on its 25th anniversary, has been termed fake by the airline carrier.
In a statement on Twitter, the airline clarified the offer is fake and not authentic, while advising customers to trust information that is shared only on its verified social media accounts.
“#FakeAlert There’s a fake link being circulated regarding ticket giveaways for our 25th Anniversary. This is not an official contest/giveaway and we advise caution. Genuine contests & giveaways are hosted only on our verified social media accounts, indicated with a blue tick,” the Jet Airways tweet said.

The message reads: “Jetairways Airline is giving 2 Free Tickets to everyone, to celebrate their 25th Anniversary, Click here to Get yours: http://www.jetaýrways.com/tickets (sic)”.
On clicking on the link, the user is redirected to http://www.xn--jetarways-ypb.com/ page. The forward message was accompanied by a link that directed people to a page, where the visitors are asked to take a survey and also forward the same message to 20 of their friends before availing the free tickets.
The page also claimed that once the message is forwarded, the users will receive tickets within 48 hours by mail. It also shows a countdown of free air tickets available.
