This Republic Day, the city of Varanasi, the abode of Lord Shiva, and the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will witness a powerful message of women’s empowerment as the fair sex takes centre stage at the national celebration.
The January 26 parade is being dedicated entirely to women.
The parade’s First in Command, trainee IPS officer Mansi Dahiya, said, “I am proud to be a trainee woman officer and to have the opportunity to lead the Varanasi Police on Republic Day. I am not alone; I am joined by approximately 400 female constables, sub-inspectors, commandos, and others. This year’s January 26 parade will be an inspiration to other women.”
This special parade will feature only female police personnel. From the women’s commando team to security arrangements and command, women will make their strong presence felt on every front. The march past, led by trainee female constables, Black Commandos, female mounted contingents, and the trainee female IPS officer commanding the entire parade, will send a message of women’s empowerment across the country.
Police Commissioner (Varanasi Commissionerate) Mohit Agarwal said on Sunday that this parade will not only highlight the increasing role of women in the police department but will also send a message to society that women can fulfil any responsibility with full capability and confidence.
Assistant Police Commissioner (Line) Dr Ishan Soni said that a total of 400 female police personnel in 16 contingents will be part of this parade. From the parade commander to the commandos, all important roles will be held by female police officers and personnel. Significantly, the responsibility of the First, Second, and Third Command of the mounted parade will also be in the hands of women.
The parade will include 10 contingents of trainee female police officers, one contingent of female commandos, one contingent of female traffic police personnel, and four contingents from various police stations of the district.
The Police Commissioner said that the film “Border-2” will be screened for the female police personnel participating in the parade to boost their morale.
