Uttar Pradesh voters can now check whether their names feature in the draft electoral roll released under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise for 2026.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa, on Wednesday explained the step-by-step process to verify entries in the draft voter list, which was published on January 6 by the Election Commission of India.

The revision has led to major changes. Uttar Pradesh now has more than 12.55 crore eligible voters. At the same time, nearly 2.89 crore names have been removed during the ongoing update.

How to check your name in the UP SIR draft voter list 2026

  • Sharing details on X, Rinwa said the verification process is straightforward. “If any person wants to check whether his/her name exists in the draft voter list of UP in SIR-2026 published on 6th January, 2026, the process is simple. Please go to the web portal of CEO UP.”
  • Once the portal opens, a pop-up window titled Special Intensive Revision (SIR) – 2026 appears on the homepage. Voters must click on the option ‘Search your name by EPIC number in draft electoral roll SIR 2026’.
  • The search page opens at: https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/uesfmempmlkypo
  • Voters need to enter their EPIC number, fill in the captcha, and click SEARCH.
  • If the name exists, the screen shows details such as the district, Assembly constituency, polling station, and serial number in the voter list. If the name does not exist in any Uttar Pradesh constituency, the result will display ‘No result found’.

Why so many names were removed from the voter list

The Chief Electoral Officer earlier told reporters that the SIR exercise revealed large discrepancies in voter records.

Around 2.17 crore voters were found missing or had shifted from their registered addresses. Another 25.47 lakh electors were registered at more than one location.

The revision also found that 46.23 lakh voters had died since the last such exercise. In addition, 18.70 per cent of voter signatures were not received during the verification process.

Voters whose names do not appear in the draft list have time to act. Rinwa urged them to submit Form 6, adding that claims and objections can be filed until February 6.
