Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is closely monitoring the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh and issuing timely directives to ensure effective relief efforts.
Acting on his instructions, state ministers are inspecting flood-affected areas. Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami reported that the floods have impacted 37 tehsils and 402 villages, affecting a total of 84,392 people. Of these, 47,906 individuals have received assistance, while 2,759 animals have been relocated to safer areas.
Seventeen districts — including Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Agra, Auraiya, Chitrakoot, Ballia, Banda, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Chandauli, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Hamirpur, Etawah, and Fatehpur — are currently grappling with flood-related challenges. Relief and rescue operations are in full swing, supported by continuous patrolling by personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, and PAC.
Floods have damaged 343 homes so far, and compensation has already been provided to 327 families. Additionally, more than 4,015 hectares of agricultural land have been affected. Relief supplies are being delivered using 493 boats and motorboats.
To support those impacted, 6,536 food packets and 76,632 lunch packets have been distributed. Furthermore, 29 community kitchens (langars) have been set up to provide fresh meals to victims.
The UP government is also prioritizing livestock welfare. Around 500 quintals of fodder have been distributed. To prevent water-borne diseases, 1,29,571 chlorine tablets and 37,089 ORS packets have been supplied.
A total of 905 flood shelters is operational, currently housing 11,248 displaced individuals. As many as 757 health teams are conducting medical check-ups, and 1,193 flood posts have been established to monitor the evolving situation.
