UP Excise dept gets 18% excess revenue till July

Uttar Pradesh excise department has collected around 18.09 per cent excess revenue in the first 4 months of the current fiscal compared to the same period in the last financial year.

UP’s Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition, Nitin Agarwal, said that revenue of Rs 18,583.19 crore has been received till July in the financial year 2025-26, which is 18.09 per cent or Rs 2,846.90 crore more revenue than the revenue of Rs 15,736.29 crore received till July in the last year 2024-25.

He said in July 2025, a revenue of Rs 4354.28 crore has been received, which is Rs 401.75 crore more than the revenue of Rs 3952.53 crore received in the same month last year. The target of the state till July 2025 was set at Rs 19,200.00 crore. Revenue of 96.79 per cent has been earned as compared to the target.

The minister informed that in the financial year 2025-26, till July 2025, a total of 39,495 cases of manufacturing, selling, and smuggling of illegal liquor were registered in the state, and 10.60 lakh litres of illegal liquor was recovered. Besides, 7,399 persons involved in the illegal liquor trade were arrested and 1,426 persons were sent to jail, and 54 vehicles involved in illegal liquor smuggling were seized.

Whereas in the last financial year 2024-25, till July 2024, a total of 36,184 cases of manufacture, sale, and smuggling of illegal liquor were registered in the state, and 9.64 lakh litres of illegal liquor was recovered. While 8,345 people involved in the illegal liquor business were arrested, 2,437 people were sent to jail, and 67 vehicles involved in the smuggling of illegal liquor were seized.

Agarwal informed that the second special enforcement campaign of 10 days was conducted from July 15 to 24, and under this campaign, 3,432 cases were registered and 84,972 litres of illegal liquor was recovered. A total of 703 people involved in the illegal liquor business were arrested, and 129 accused were sent to jail. A total of 7 vehicles involved in the transportation of liquor were seized.
