A day after the CBI questioned the now expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case, the investigating agency on Sunday searched over a dozen places in four districts in Uttar Pradesh including the residences of Sengar and others.

The Central Bureau of Investigation teams searched properties belonging to him and the other accused in the case in Lucknow, Unnao, Banda, Fatehpur districts.

On Saturday a CBI team reached Sitapur jail, where the prime accused,  Sengar has been lodged for over a year. According to CBI sources in Lucknow, the agency had also collected the details of people who met Sengar in the prison.

Following the outrage over the road accident that has left the Unnao rape victim and her lawyer battling for life and which killed two of her family members, the BJP finally expelled Sengar from the party. The two-year-old case of the rape of the minor girl allegedly by Sengar at his residence in Unnao attracted national attention when the victim was critically injured in a car accident on July 28.

Following which the Supreme Court on Thursday ordered transfer of all cases relating to the Unnao rape to Delhi and asked CBI to investigate the matter.
