TMC Split: Saayoni Ghosh breaks silence on joining rebel camp; here is what she said

TMC MP from West Bengal’s Jadavpur, Saayoni Ghosh, on Sunday reacted to the reports that she has joined the Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar-led group of 19 rebel MPs, saying she will speak when the time comes.

As she arrived at Delhi airport, reporters asked Ghosh to clarify her stand, to which she responded, “I will not say anything now. I will only speak when the time is right.”

When one of the reporters pressed further and asked about her viral “Chadha nahi hun jo Chaddi bann jaungi” jibe at AAP turncoat Raghav Chadha for joining the BJP, a miffed Ghosh told them that she would give a reply to the people of her constituency.

“I won’t reply to you, I will reply to the people of my constituency,” Ghosh added.

Saayoni was one of the most surprising names in the list of rebel TMC MPs, who have reportedly written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requesting him to recognise them as a separate bloc.

The rebels also reportedly conveyed to the Speaker that they will support the BJP-led NDA.

After the recent West Bengal Assembly elections, Saayoni Ghosh had backed Mamata Banerjee and said that the TMC didn’t lose but was defeated by stealing votes.

Throughout the elections, she vehemently criticised the BJP and accused the saffron party of dividing people in the name of religion.

During one of her media interactions at the peak of campaigning, she even took a jibe at Raghav Chadha, who ditched the AAP to join BJP, Ghosh said, ” My name is not Chadha so i won’t become a chaddi.”

TMC MPs gather in Delhi, likely to meet Speaker Birla on Monday

Ghosh and other rebel TMC MPs, including Mala Roy, have arrived in Delhi. According to reports, the rebels are expected to meet Speaker Birla on Monday.

They are also likely to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari later today.
