The Bihar Congress on Monday expelled seven leaders from the party’s primary membership for six years for alleged anti-party activities. These leaders had accused party officials of selling tickets for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Several other leaders had also claimed that cash politics influenced the ticket distribution process.

Senior Congress leader and MP Tariq Anwar on Monday called for an inquiry into these allegations. Emphasising the need for transparency and fairness within the party, he urged the party high command to conduct an impartial review of the entire ticket distribution process and ensure action against those found responsible for any irregularities.

Those expelled include former Congress Seva Dal Vice-President Aditya Paswan, former State Congress Vice-President Shakeelur Rahman, former Kisan Congress President Raj Kumar Sharma, former State Youth Congress President Raj Kumar Rajan, former EBC Cell President Kundan Gupta, Banka District President Kanchana Kumari, and Ravi Golden from Nalanda district.

According to the order issued by Kapildev Prasad Yadav, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, the leaders repeatedly made statements outside party platforms against party programmes and decisions.

They also allegedly disobeyed directions issued by competent authorities and damaged the party’s reputation by making “baseless and misleading” allegations, such as claims of ticket trading, on print and social media.

Meanwhile, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram has asked district presidents to convene review meetings to examine the election process and results, and to conduct a fair and detailed analysis of the political, organisational, and regional factors behind the party’s crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

He instructed them to hold factual discussions on voter turnout, booth-level activities, organisational strength, publicity and outreach, local issues, and alliance dynamics. District presidents have been asked to prepare a detailed review report and send it to the Bihar Congress office at the earliest so the process of formulating future strategies and strengthening the organisation can be expedited.

Rajesh Ram noted that an analysis of post-election data showed that the performance of Congress candidates fell short of expectations, which he described as a serious concern for the organisation and its workers.

He said, “Election results do not merely indicate victory or defeat, they show us the areas where we need improvement. This is a decisive time for introspection, united effort, and organisational strengthening.”
