Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati strongly criticized a sting operation conducted by a private media house terming it a conspiracy to defame the BSP and its leadership.
In a long press statement here on Friday, the former UP chief minister stated that the BSP is an honest, true Ambedkarite party, following the path shown by the revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to secure constitutional rights and justice for the poor, exploited, oppressed, and neglected members of the Bahujan Samaj and upper castes in the country.
She said that unlike other parties, the BSP relies not on the support or at the behest of big capitalists and wealthy people, but on the strength of its own people’s body, mind, and money. However, this is unacceptable to narrow-minded, casteist, communal, and capitalist forces. Therefore, they resort to various tactics from time to time, especially when elections are approaching, to defame the BSP party and movement, as well as its Iron Lady leadership.
She stated that a section of the media continues to raise questions about the BSP candidate’s selection to divert public attention from and cover up other parties’ electoral maneuvers.
She clarified that most of the financial support the BSP receives is legally spent solely on ensuring the party candidate’s victory, which is no secret. Nevertheless, it is not befitting for the media to spread various misleading and false information and rumors about this as part of a conspiracy.
The BSP chief stated that not only BSP UP State Unit President Vishwanath Pal, but all other party officials, both senior and junior, are currently engaged in strengthening the party organization and expanding its support base across the community, as well as preparing a list of potential candidates for the upcoming UP Assembly elections and thoroughly screening them.
She stated that those who approach her regarding the party’s candidacy are questioned, much like a cross-examination in court, to assess their social, political, and economic standing, as well as their loyalty and sustainability to the party. Mayawati stated that it is unfair to take these claims at face value without delving into the details.
Mayawati requested the media and appealed to party members not to be misled by such conspiracies orchestrated by opposition parties, but to remain dedicated to their Mission 2027 goal. She stated that the BSP’s tremendous preparations have left their opponents sleepless.
Earlier, a media house did a sting operation of BSP state president and other leaders in which they had admitted that to meet the party’s national president to seek assembly ticket you have to pay Rs 5 lakhs in cash directly to her and if given ticket then they will have to give Rs 3.5 crore in installments, but only in cash.
