Kerala Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Rathan U. Kelkar, on Saturday said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls schedule will not be changed and the draft list will be published on December 9 itself.
Addressing political party representatives at a weekly review meeting here on Saturday, CEO Kelkar said the targets given to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are intended not to create pressure, but to ensure that the Special Intensive Revision is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Kelkar said around 1,19,315 voters have been found untraceable during Kerala’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision(SIR) and that election officials are embarking on an effort to track down voters found untraceable during the enumeration phase.
In the meeting, political parties other than the BJP demanded an extension of the schedule of the revision of the electoral rolls. When the CPM alleged that the death of BLO Aneesh George was due to work stress, the BJP demanded that the party provide security to BLOs working in the party villages.
The Congress said that if the schedule is not changed, many eligible voters will be left out of the list. BJP alleged that the CPM and Congress are trying to sabotage the SIR using service organizations.
